Russia will not participate in the bidding for the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) for the purchase of fighter planes, trailing for years and whose trial will be resumed in the current government, said Tuesday Defense Minister Nelson Jobim.
He said that can only continue in the dispute the three firms that had been considered before (US-based Boeing, Sweden's Saab and French Dassault Aviation).
Jobim recalled that the Russians were not qualified earlier in the process.
"It is expected that (the Russians entering the tender). The only people who are contesting are (...) Boeing, Saab and Dassault. The Russians were disqualified at the beginning of (...) process, "Jobim told reporters after attending an opening of state-owned Banco do Brasil.
Boeing competes with the F-18 Super Hornet, while Saab offered the Gripen NG and Dassault Rafale came with.
The minister added that not yet taken any decision to include new businesses in the bidding.
According Jobim, from the manufacturer's choice of fighter aircraft procurement process could still take another year.
"Having decided on a solution, there are at least 12 months of negotiations, which are complex, involving technology transfer, direct compensation and indirect financial contract, which defines how this will be negotiated, "he said.
