Onel Fernández opened last night the XIV International Book Fair, the most important cultural event in the country. This year's Fair Book is dedicated to the Vatican. The opening ceremony took place in the main hall of the National Theatre. Speakers included Minister of Culture and Cardinal López Rodríguez.
President Leonel Fernandez last night inaugurated the XIV International Book Fair, the most important cultural event of the Dominican Republic, to be the Vatican as a guest of honor, so that Pope Benedict XVI sent a message of thanks to the Dominican people, so particularly the Government and the Ministry of Culture, responsible for organizing and editing. The event was held in the Board of the National Theatre Piantini Carlos Eduardo Brito.
In the message, released through a video that was screened at the opening of the XIV Feria del Libro Santo Domingo 2011, Pope Benedict XVI stressed that he has dedicated the event to the Vatican at a time that is celebrated the jubilee of the V Centenary of the Dominican Church .
